Sport fishing in general is one of the best ways of disconnection and enjoyment that exist, if we even add more elements of leisure, the equation can never go wrong.
For a long time I have been fishing from a boat both on the river and in the sea, but for a couple of years I discovered fishing by kayak, an element that adds an emotion to fishing without any doubt. Putting together two extremely attractive sports at the same time, makes enjoyment multiply.

The first times I climbed a kayak, the sensations were spectacular, the fishing even at some point went to the background, because I marveled to be paddling in that rough borrowed kayak that moved slowly through the beautiful landscape that surrounded me.

Little by little I began to normalize those sensations inside me and I went into action, which I really love, which is fishing. I wanted, as I always do in competition, to advance more and to experience new sensations of fishing, so it was at that moment when I contacted Galaxy Kayaks, because I needed a kayak that would allow me to practice my sport with comfort.

It was at that time when I started fishing fly from my Galaxy Cruz, thanks to its enormous stability and its small size, something I had not done so far, which is rare in me, as it is obviously the fishing that I practice in the one hundred One hundred of my trainings in river in lake.

If we talk about fly fishing from Kayak, we will have to take into account a few details before venturing. My advice is that first of all, you will have to train the set sitting, because it has nothing to do with throwing standing, since we will have much less mobility, and the obstacle of being closer to the water, which will make it easier to splash with our strimer on the surface of the sea or lake that we want to fish.

At the time of choosing the team we will go in parts:
The kayak should be as stable as possible, as we will make sudden movements and more effort at the time of casting than if we were to fish for spinning for example. We must also bear in mind that if one of the main enemies of kayak fishing is the wind, if we talk about fly fishing, this condition becomes even more important, since we do not use a reel that allows us to collect faster for re-launch, and we must optimize our sets to the maximum. That said, we should choose a short kayak with the least friction surface with the wind to have less drift. The galaxy cross brings these qualities together perfectly.

To avoid these drift problems we can take an anchor that allows us to maintain the position in case of finding a good fishing area.

Another thing that we will have to take into account is the fishing equipment. Just like from a boat or from a duck, we need a rod of 10 feet and a line 6 or 7 that allows us to reach a good distance with large flies, and even lines 8 or 9 for fishing in the sea.

The lines can vary a lot depending on the types of fishing we want to do. We have lines in the market to fish all the layers of water up to a maximum of 15 meters deep. For fly fishing, the normal and most simple thing is to look for fish in the most superficial layers up to about 4 meters deep.
Flies can also be very variable, although for large predators we will always focus on fishing with stringers of various sizes. In the case of bass, we can use poppers and walkers in the summer, which will ensure great enjoyment for its spectacular surface attacks.

My advice is to start in lakes with a guarantee of success to engage in this passionate fusion of sensations, and if we want to start at sea, dedicate our first days to small tunas or in areas of ría where we can tempt the many seabass that live in them in summer.

I encourage you to try, with time and patience, always carry your fly rod on top of the kayak.
